Here are just a few injustice issues impacting our world today
1.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water and 2.4 billion people lack access to proper sanitation facilities
1.2 billion people live on less than $1 a day
Every day, 800 million people go to bed hungry
Reliable global statistics are impossible to compile, but it is estimated that trafficking affects about 1.2 million children each year.
God is a God of justice and would like to work together with you to see that established on the earth. This DTS with a focus on justice and development is designed for those that would like to walk closer with Jesus and be equipped to make a visible difference in the world. We aim to understand social injustices that people are exposed to, as well as, how to respond to them. The first step is receiving God's heart for people and then being motivated from that heart to help those in need.
This DTS has a 12 week lecture period and an 11 week outreach period following.
Lecture phase
For three intense months, you, along with other students from various countries, will receive practical and inspirational teaching from Swedish and international speakers who live what they teach. This won’t be a time of just hearing about the experience of others, you too will see God work in your own life in a personal way.
There is a belief today which says society has become hardened to the issues of injustice due to an overexposure of visual images of the suffering in this world. However, it is not overexposure that causes apathy - but a lack of action. When we ACT our eyes will be opened and we will become sharp.
Outreach
After three months of teaching, the DTS continues far beyond the borders of Sweden. In smaller teams of 5 – 10 people we will go to some of YWAM Restenäs’ focus areas located in Africa and Asia. It will definitely be an adventure! The aim of the outreach is to make God known through different, creative ways of evangelism and mercy ministries in words and actions.
Teams will focus on both justice and development, working practically to improve the circumstances for those in great need and working with issues of injustice impacting developing countries today.
The development part of this school will include building and working practically with your hands to improve every day life for people in need. We will also focus on injustice issues such as: human trafficking, poverty, children at risk, etc. Our desire is to bring the hope of Jesus to where people are at in their life.
